Rathmell Hidden Gems event raises £170.50

A walk took place on Saturday 5th May to explore some of the ‘Hidden Gems’ of Rathmell.

There were two walks, one in the morning at 10.00 and the second at 2.00 in the afternoon; after each walk refreshments were available in the Reading Room consisting of scones with jam and cream, sandwiches and tea or coffee.

There were presentations in the Reading Room of work produced by a number of Rathmell residents:

Philip Simnett/Photographic work; Sam Lawrence/Handmade Uillean pipes & other instruments; Vanessa Stone/History of the Reading Room & Alison Boothman/History of Rathmell School;Margaret Swift/Artwork; Rosemary Rees/Author of Historical Literature; Roger Vincent/The B4RN broadband project.

Outside the Reading Room, John Garnett and a colleague, gave information about the ‘Blood Bike’ organisation; alongside his bike and detailed information about this very valuable and admirable service.

A map was produced to show the route of the walk, marking the Gems to be encountered along the way!
