Despite its diminutive size in terms of population, the parish of Rathmell is home to a disproportionate number and variety of businesses and business people. Traditionally it has been very much a farming community, although it then became well-known in the region as home to Agricultural Engineers Thornton & Garnett. With the demise of the latter and the retreat of the former to outlying pastures, the centre of the village has become populated with people from near and far. Many now run businesses from home (aided by the village’s ongoing B4RN project which brings affordable hyperfast community broadband to Rathmell residents) or from premises in and around the Settle area.
The Rathmell Website would be pleased to list businesses that are connected to and/or serve the village and its residents. We’re also very happy to discuss sponsorship of website running costs by local businesses.
