Rathmell Needs to Raise £15000 for Church

Holy Trinity1At the fund-raising meeting on 19th February, it was made clear that in order to secure the Heritage Lottery Fund Grant towards the restoration work required for Holy Trinity Church, the local community would need to raise £15,000 by December 2015. Many suggestions were put forward as to how this figure may be achieved, which included individual donations, a sponsorship scheme styled as ‘Buy a slate for our roof’, and a programme of community events. The following events have already been timetabled:

Saturday 14th March – Coffee Morning in Reading Room

Friday 10th April – Recipe Tasting Evening 7pm Cockley Bank

Saturday 30th May – Garden Party 2pm The Old Post Office

Saturday 25th July – Barbecue at Fairways

Saturday 12th September – Nosh & Natter at Cockley Bank

Malcolm Spencer and his son are to undertake a sponsored cycle ride: ‘The Way of the Roses’ – Morecambe to Bridlington

Other events with dates still to be fixed include:

Auction of Promises at Tosside Village Hall (probably in October)

Concert in Church by local singing group Octameron

Car Treasure Hunt

All offers of help and participation in all or any of the above would be most welcome. More details will be posted as they become known. Watch this space!
