Hesley Lane Planning Application for 3 Dwellings Result!

As many Rathmell residents will now be aware, the planning application to build 3 houses to the north of Hesley Lane was refused by CDC Planning Committee at its most recent meeting. Acting on your instructions from our Parish Meeting, the application was ‘called in’ so that it had to be discussed by the full planning committee rather than being decided simply by the delegated officer.

John Ketchell and David Wilkinson addressed the Planning Committee on behalf of the Parish Meeting and RBPC and our arguments, together with the support of the Planning Officer, persuaded the Committee of our case.

It was heartening to see that, with widespread parishioner support, a humble body such as the Parish Meeting could influence matters … but we must continue to be alert, active, and unified when other inappropriate applications come along.
