Back Lane Bridle Path made One Way

For the duration of the Coronavirus Pandemic Back Lane has been made One Way. Walkers, dog-walkers and horse-riders have been asked to use it in one direction only – south to north, i.e. from Layhead to Hesley Lane.

This allows everybody to use the path safely while observing social distancing, which is currently not possible on the narrow bits when people are walking in opposite directions.

UPDATE 9th JULY: Initially, the same applied to the Right of Way across the fields from Back Lane to The Old School, but this has been relaxed and the one-way signs removed – because there’s plenty of space on this stretch to give oncoming (dog)walking traffic a wide berth. But please remember to leave space so if you meet people coming the other way!
