The Reading Room in the power cut

The Reading Room in the power cut

It was fantastic to be able to offer (and, to be honest, to use) the Reading Room as a space for the electricty-less to gather after Storm Arwen took down power lines in the area.

Now we seem to be back on the grid around here, the Reading Room is no longer in use as a refuge, but if anyone needs it, they can always get in touch with a committee member, and we can open it up during the day.

It was really lovely to meet people and see those who came into the Reading Room for shelter or to give moral support last week, and nice to know the space (and electricity and heating and internet) can be so useful in difficult times.

For those still affected by the power cut, the Reading Room will be open from about 9am on Thursday 2nd December… come for heating, working power sockets, broadband, cooking facilities and brews… stay for conviviaility, company and commiseration! Tell your neighbours if they might need to know.
