Quilting Class

A Quilting Class has started in Rathmell Reading Room which is being run and taught by Denise Maguire. Denise and her husband, Tony, recently moved into Rathmell. 
Denise has not always been a quilter but has always sewn being taught by her Mother from about 4 years old. She retired from her nursing career as an operating theatre manager and quickly became hooked on Quilting, progressed to taking her City and Guilds qualifying as a quilting teacher and designer. She began teaching for Cartmel Adult Education at Allithwaite and has 24 students there. 

When Denise looked at the Reading Room she thought it would be a great place to continue teaching classes. She has ladies coming from Lancaster and Kendal as well as the Settle area. 
This class is now full but another could start for beginners. The charge is £20 for the day 10-4.00 with everything provided apart from sewing kits and fabric. This may sound expensive but classes are small and fully taught.

I have dropped in and was so impressed at the both the quality of the quilting being produced and the original designs, also the friendly, relaxed atmosphere. All were very happy with the venue saying it was ideal for the class being roomy and light.
